We work to safely provide premium açai and exotic frozen fruit purées to the UK market. We charge a fair price with no compromise on quality. Our profit margins are lower than our competitors because we want our products to be accessible and affordable to as many people as possible, and to encourage accessible, healthy eating.
We’ve been to the heart of the Amazon rainforest and met the local people who make a living from the açai industry, and even got involved with the harvest ourselves. We have direct trade agreements to ensure our product comes from an ethical supply chain, so that our açai, and other frozen fruit purées, won’t contribute to deforestation.
Our raw materials are always purchased from approved suppliers, meaning the origins of these products can be traced right back to the roots of each tree they are harvested from.
Until the global freight shipping industry emits zero carbon emissions there will never be a 100% sustainable way to import exotic products to our shores. However, we do our bit by using 100% renewable energy in our facilities. Our warehouse and walk in freezers are run exclusively from wind, solar, and tidal energy sourced from the UK. This significantly reduces our carbon footprint, and remains an ongoing goal for Naweii.
Our promise for the future:
Regenerating Damaged Ecosystems: We pledge to donate 2.5% of our net profits each year to reforestation projects in the Amazon Rainforest and the Atlantic Forest. The regeneration of ecosystems previously destroyed for agricultural purposes will bring biodiversity back, sequester carbon emissions, and bring employment to the local people involved in our projects.
Syntropic Agroforestry: Who says that growing food has to be damaging to our environment? We aim to support and get involved with agroforestry projects across Brazil. This is a method of growing food that works with nature instead of against it. Fruits, vegetables, and other plants can be grown in harmony with the forest, without the use of pesticides or tilling practices. Supporting agroforestry can provide a sustainable alternative to other farming methods, incentivise the regeneration of tropical forests, revitalise the soil, provide income for families, and increase organic production.
Reducing Single Use Plastics: We are proud to announce that we have new packaging! Our outer boxes are made from cardboard which is biodegradable and recyclable. This means that significantly less plastics will be in circulation around the planet because of Naweii. Furthermore, we have been working hard and finally found a biodegradable and vegan alternative to our poly boxes, so our customers will be seeing these very soon!
Our sustainably and ethically sourced products are processed, transported and stored following strict HACCP guidelines.
We donate 2.5% of our annual net profits to reforestation projects across Latin America. We believe in nurturing the environment and local communities that provide our delicious fruit.
